Wordless Wednesday: Under Cover

Have you ever hid under the covers with your child and thought to yourself, this is it.  This is all I was meant to do.   There are no other children, jobs, bills or outside commitments that can get in between you two under there.  We went under cover, hid in the dark and pretended like their was nothing else.  Just us two.  Just a soft, curly head breathing giggles and a momma with fingers tickling ribs and chubby thighs.  These must be the moments that self esteem and self worth come from.

We mommas are so magic, that we can shrink the world into the space between us and our child.  We can make it so small, that our child becomes the most important thing in it. They can feel their weight in our hearts.

These moments signify for me, the reason motherhood is the most important job in the world.  It is a pin in the road map of raising children.  A destination to be savored as often as possible.

  1. This is beautiful – thank you for putting the words out there AND reminding me why I chose to be a stay at home mom. It is NOT all vacuum cleaners and dishpan hands. Not by a long shot.

Love this! I've felt that so many time, so many quiet moments of looking into my baby's eyes and knowing that the world is only as big as the space between us. Thank you for putting it into words so beautifully!
