Tashmica Torok | MECASACon Keynote

I am excited to share that I am the keynote speaker at the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault Conference tomorrow, September 13th at 9 a.m. ET.

The Conference is FREE, VIRTUAL, and full of thought-provoking sessions. ASL and Spanish language interpretation will be provided. Scroll down for the link to register and a PDF of the agenda!

On my way to speak at the Michigan Pride Rally.

I want to connect dope ass people to liberatory ideas so that we can all get free.

In the past few years, I have set aside my own personal story as something not central to the work I do every day but a necessary piece of a larger narrative.

Our movements cannot be shaped by our individual stories. My work at The Firecracker Foundation and in the community continues to be shaped by survivors of violence, the solutions they have found along the way, and a commitment to remain flexible enough so people can have their needs met regardless of what I/We had planned.

In other words, one size does not fit all when it comes to healing.

I’m excited to have this opportunity to reintroduce myself to you after what has felt like a cocooning this summer. I’ll be telling my story in a new way tomorrow. I hope that it reflects growth, change, and power. I’ll also be sharing some practical knowledge about how TFF came to be, how we hold our work, and how that work can be replicated to benefit survivors and prevent child sexual abuse in other places around the country.

For those of you who are my Patrons, I’ll be sure to share the video with you directly after it becomes available.

I hope all of you are enjoying the last days of summer. May your cups be full of warmth, may your feet enjoy the crunch of the leaves, and may you breathe in deep the change coming in the air.

With appreciation,
